Learning Commons Tutoring

The Math & Science Center

The Math & Science Center  provides free tutoring in Math, Life Sciences, and Macro/Micro Economics.  Students may drop in for support, encouragement, or more in-depth individual tutoring. Hours vary slightly week-to-week. Students first schedule any tutoring sessions (whether for online Zoom videoconferencing or in-person) in Appointment Plus Simply create an Appointment Plus account and then pick the course, day, time, and tutor you need.  Questions or requests for additional tutoring hours may be sent to Diane Hamel at   

Online Math & Science Tutoring using Zoom  We have online options available for tutoring!  How does it work?  First, schedule your Zoom videoconferencing tutoring through Appointment Plus. Next, you will receive a notice in your CMCC email with a web link which connects you to your Zoom videoconference.   No special software is required for Zoom; just an internet connection.  Online tutoring is available to any CMCC students, however online tutoring is not available for MAT 030 & MAT 050 (Please come in and visit us for these classes.)  Online tutors may have other times that they are available feel free to contact them and ask.

The Writing Center

The Writing Center   Provides help with all phases of the writing process such as; organization, revision, grammar, and MLA/APA documentation styles. All CMCC students can receive free tutoring from the Writing Center.  We offer three ways to get in touch with a tutor. In-person (face to face), via email correspondence in CMConnect (Online Writing Center), and online webinar-style tutoring using ZOOM (Virtual Writing Center).

To receive any tutoring (whether in-person or via Zoom), first book an appointment through Appointment Plus You'll create an Appointment Plus account and then pick the course you need tutoring for, the day, time and tutor you need.

Zoom Virtual Writing Center  This new webinar-style face to face service is open to students in any class at CMCC, on campus or on-line. Students don't need any apps or special software since the Zoom connection is through a web address. You will need a computer with a camera and audio, most laptops have that.  The Zoom Tutor will show students how to upload their paper (from a file) once they've logged into the meeting.  Sign up for tutoring with Appointment Plus, or click on the links below for immediate service during the indicated times. Online Writing Center (send your paper via email) If you are taking an online class you are eligible to use the Online Writing Center and email your draft to a tutor via CMConnect. Your instructor will add you to the Online Writing Center Course in CMConnect. Then, go to your courses in CMConnect and and select the Online Writing Center course. Follow the upload instructions on the screen and upload your paper using the forums portlet.  The Online Writing Center tutor will try to respond via email within two (2) business days.
