LER 100: First Year Seminar

This guide will give FYS students a brief overview to the services and resources at CMCC's Learning Commons

The Learning Commons has over eight thousand physical books and DVDs.  Use the barcode on the back of your CMCC student ID to check these out.  Your barcode (library card) number is 14 digits long and always starts with 2642000 and ends with your student ID number  Use this barcode to order books and other material from most other Maine Libraries. You can also use your CMCC Student ID at Auburn and Lewiston public libraries to check out material directly from these libraries. Search Minerva http://minerva.maine.edu/~S10 to see what titles are available at CMCC.

You have access to two large eBook collections with nearly 60 thousand titles.

  • Proquest eBook Central is a collection of hundreds of thousands of eBooks (mostly academic and scholarly in nature).   These are not the kinds of books that you are likely to read in their entirety, instead they provide supporting evidence for your college research papers and assignments.  Login from off campus using your CMCC ID number.  The video below refers to "available books", but all books in the Proquest eBook Central collection are automatically available to you.
  • Cloud Library (also known as the Maine InfoNet Download Library) is a collection of thousands of popular and high interest eBooks and eAudio books.  These are the titles that you are more likely to use for fun, light, or recreational reading or listening.  First, download the Cloud Library app onto your device.  Log in with your barcode on your ID and create your own personal account to use Cloud Library.
