Evaluating Information

Now you have found the information you are looking for, and you understand what you are reading; but can you trust it?
Information is only as good as its source.

Question: Which do you trust to know more about weight loss?

Option 1. a Bariatric physician with a PHD from a reputable medical university.

Option 2. a Hollywood actor, with no medical degree, who just wrote a book about a weight loss plan that they invented.

Option 3. a Facebook blog post from an unknown source praising a new rapid weight loss diet.

Answer: Option 1 a Bariatric physician is a doctor specialized in weight loss methods.

This was an easy answer to guess right?  However in real life the source of information you find may not be easy to discover...if it is even listed at all.
Below are some quick tips to keep in mind when you are trying to evaluate the accuracy of the information you are working with.
